Ollie Kids - giving kids the skills
Making a difference
When you get told that the kids in the Ollie Kids group are no longer on the watch list at break and lunch times you know you have made a difference and that the kids in the group have taken on the skills and techniques you have taught them. And this is all within the 6 weeks of the programme.
We were very lucky to be asked to work with 10 amazing children at a school in Rugby. The kids' ages ranged from 8 to 10 and they were all highlighted as having high anxiety levels triggered by many different things.
These kids were amazing taking on the key learnings from the model, that they are in charge of how they feel and how they act. They learnt that even if they are sorry they can't take bad words back once they have put them out there. They learnt that Anxiety was actually a good thing but sometimes it gets a bit overactive and they can tell it to 'calm' down.
Ali Knowles, creator of the Ollie Model, engaged the children through play and games, always making it fun allowing them to digest the information and then take that learning back into the classroom and playground.
"The kids were amazing, being all very unique," said Ali. "It was wonderful to see them change and grow over the 6 weeks".
The Ollie Kids programme is designed to build resilience, empathy, confidence self-worth and communication skills all in a team environment. Get in touch to find out how your school can book a programme.
